Ambell Waith
Codi'n fore i osgoi'r lli,
Moduro'n gyflym i bendraw'r byd.
Deffro'n fore mewn dinas bell,
Cynefino mewn cwmwl saethug.
Pen y daith, Hiraeth, Ambell waith.

Llygru'r moroedd gwyrddion llawn pysgod prin,
Malu'r awyr a phoeni dim,
Credwn bopeth ar y teledu a gwyn,
Nodwn fod y byd mewn lliwiau,
Ambell waith, hiraeth, Ambell waith

Wake up early to avoid the flow
Motoring quickly to the other side of the world
Wake in the morning in a distant city
Acclimatise to a an idle cloud
End of journey, homesickness*, sometimes

Pollute the green oceans full of rare fish
Break up the air and not worry**
Believe everything on the television and ache (lust or twitch also)
Note that the world is in colours
Sometimes, homesickness*, sometimes

* There's no word in English for this, it's a feeling of intense longing for your home or land; a sort of homesickness mixed with nostalgia
** In Welsh, there's a possible reference to aeroplanes, which fits in with the song's theme of fast travelling and disillusionment

At the gigs, Gruff explained that the scenario for this song was him driving across Cardiff in the morning, on the way to catch a plane to go on tour but getting stuck in traffic and describing his feelings at the time. Gruff's lyrics in Welsh do seem to be more personal. Cryndod yn dy lais for example, there is nothing in English so personal and emotional as this. The English lyrics tend to deal with wider issues, world issues, political stuff etc
