SUPER FURRY ANIMALS AFTER-SHOW WAREHOUSE PARTY!!
- 13/07/2009
Already notorious for their end of gig techno finales and for throwing festival after-show raves from on top of their tank, Super Furry Animals continue this tradition in fine style as they once more take over Corsica Studios for the mother of all after-show parties. After the sell-out success of the last SFA after party following their Roundhouse shows in Nov 2007, the Furries have decided to return to Corsica and throw another all night warehouse bash. Straight after their Somerset House show on July 18th they’ll be hot-footing it over the river with a host of their favourite DJs in tow - except the music this time will involve a very different type of acid... After the all-out techno onslaught of their last event with sets from Andrew Weatherall and Evil Eddie Richards (including a rare early 90's rave set from 'the godfather of house and techno'), this time they’re taking a trip back to explore their deep-fried acid-folk origins. Expect wild and wonderful DJ sets from SFA members Gruff Rhys and Guto Pryce themselves, buckets of psychedelic freak beat fuzzy madness from special guests Cherrystones ( Whatever We Want, Poptones ), Andy Votel ( Twisted Nerve, B Music, Finders Keepers ), Pete Fowler ( Monsterism ) and fellow patriot Huw Evans, a whole other room of mutant techno from the Acid Casuals featuring Paps ( aka Cian Ciaran from SFA ) and Retrac plus a slick mixture of kraut-rock, cosmic disco and techno grooves from Allez Allez, Jagz Kooner ( Sabres of Paradise ), Copious Breaks & Tomahawk – Psychemagik and the Kosmische Club DJs. The Super Furry Animals' credentials to throw such a jump-up are impressive. Techno and dance music culture is in their blood and they have been well known for including abstract techno moments throughout their many albums and gigs, with SFA and acid casuals member Cian Ciaran even releasing techno on the massive Novamute Records , Frankfurt's Below Label and now their own imprint sOMbOM. Fuse this with the crate-diggers obsession with Welsh Rarebeat, Turkish prog and Chilean Psych and we have a mixture made in Heaven. It’s a long way from Bethesda and the Ogwen Valley but Corsica Studios is the natural location for such an audacious blend of styles and genres but, if the last party was anything to go by, this is going to be immense. Add to the mix a selection of mind-bending visuals, B Movie trailers, kaleidescopic light-shows and – believe it or not - a Kool-Aid bar - and you’d be forgiven for thinking that this was some Merry Pranksters’ gathering in Haight Ashbury at the tail-end of the sixties not 21st Century London. After 12 years of cult like status the Super Furry Animals stay true to their music. This is a rare opportunity to attend an event organised by respected musicians, playing the music THEY love, just because they can... FOR FURTHER INFORMATION & TO PURCHASE TICKETS:
